We partner with local malls and high-foot-traffic areas to set up free public outreach stations. These spaces allow us to connect face-to-face with the community, share the mission of The Adopt Don’t Shop Movement, and educate anyone interested in learning more or getting involved.
BRINGING ADOPTION ADVOCACY TO THE STREETS
At The Adopt Don’t Shop Movement, we take our mission directly to the public through Free Speech Activities in high-traffic areas like shopping centers, markets, and community spaces. These events give us a unique opportunity to connect with people face-to-face, share the stories of shelter pets, and inspire compassionate choices right on the spot.
WHAT HAPPENS AT A FREE SPEECH ACTIVITY
Our team sets up in approved public areas to:
• Share why adoption matters and how choosing to adopt instead of shop can save a life.
• Distribute educational materials about our mission and the urgent need to end pet homelessness.
• Showcase adoptable pets through photos, videos, and, when possible, real-life appearances — helping people connect with them instantly.
• Answer questions about local shelters, rescues, and the adoption process, breaking down myths that keep animals waiting in kennels.
• Inspire compassionate choices by showing that adoption not only changes an animal’s life, it changes yours too.
By meeting people where they are — outside of shelters — we bring these unseen animals into the public eye. Every conversation, every shared story, and every smile exchanged could be the moment someone decides to adopt and give a pet the loving home they’ve been waiting for.
